Great reporting. Congrats, Laurie and Josué! Well-balanced and as nuanced as possible to tell this very complex story. I'd recommend this to anyone thinking of coming to Paraguay. All the good, the bad and the ugly carefully stated. High-quality and useful journalism! 👏👏👏

Thank you for such a nice article, Laurence and Josué. Contextualizing this reality with these diverse set of perspectives helps a lot understanding it. I hope there is more to come!

Thanks for reading! We really did find so many different motivations for moving to Paraguay. But the common thread was that this is a place where the taxman and government more or less leave you alone to fend for yourself. That's great for wealthy immigrants, or those fleeing struggling economies or nakedly authoritarian regimes. But it makes life hard for working-class Paraguayans who could use some help getting their foot on the ladder.

Hello, Nice article with a collage of stories to boot. I'm in the process of applying for TR in Paraguay. Came across the online applicaiton process to start in June,2026. Can you share more details about the website, etc. Would this process be applicable to citizens of India and other countries that need Visa to come to Paraguay ? Your inputs and advice is requested and much appreciated.
